ARBOR DAY IS FRIDAY, APRIL 24TH

The Village, the Park District, Forest Park School District 91, The Library, McAdam Landscaping, along with Forest Park resident and Tree City expert, Kurt Hansen spent several months planning a big Arbor Day Celebration.  We are, of course, disappointed that we will not be able to have the Arbor Day party at the Park District.  We are thrilled to announce that McAdam will still be donating the trees that we planned to plant at our Schools and at the Park District.  We will plant the official Arbor Day tree at the Park District main building on Friday morning 04/24/2020 @ 10:00 AM.  The trees to be planted at each school will take place at a date to be named in the fall.

We have had to adjust the celebration to allow for proper social distancing.  So, this year we invite Forest Park kids of all ages to draw their favorite leaves and trees, on scrap and recycled paper if possible, and hang them in your windows on Arbor Day. Take a walk around town and look for your favorite tree. Is it hanging in a window? Or maybe it’s growing right here in Forest Park! Make sure you are practicing safe distancing and wear your mask!

The Facebook group Forest Park Walking Activities is a great place to promote your pictures and share your findings! To learn more about trees through fun games and activities, visit Carly’s Kids Corner at arborday.org/kids.

Out of an abundance of caution, you should assume that the COVID-19 virus is in our community.  Therefore, Village of Forest Park advises that you regularly wash your hands and maintain “social distancing” consistent with current federal and state guidelines.

The Village of Forest Park now believes that Cook County is permitted to the share information concerning the confirmed COVID-19 cases under certain provisions of health information privacy laws.   The United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) advises that the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy Rule allows a “covered entity” (State of Illinois or Cook County) to share the name or other identifying information of an individual who has been infected with, or exposed to, the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), with law enforcement, paramedics, other first responders, and public health authorities without an individual’s authorization under the following circumstances:
